In Audit & Assurance, we offer a range of roles including opportunities for Graduates, BrightStart Apprenticeships, Summer Vacation Schemes and Industrial Placements.

We audit some of the most influential multinationals, innovative start-ups and biggest household names across the globe. If you join our Audit team, you’ll work with lots of senior people, whilst gaining insight into how their organisations operate and the economic and industry issues that matter to them. 

The landscape for audit reporting is changing fast, which is driving demand for our services. We’re using AI and other technologies to automate and standardise processes in an accurate way, so that we can focus on delivering a great product for our businesses.

This is a role that enables you to enjoy real responsibility early in your career, whilst learning critical skills that will help you adapt to future change.

We have full-time opportunities available in Audit on our BrightStart Scheme, which is a Level 7 Apprenticeship suitable for college leavers, as well as on our Graduate Programme. On both programmes you’ll be studying towards the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification with either the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Both qualifications are globally recognised and are designed to expand your knowledge of a wide range of technical areas. They’ll help you confidently perform at work and develop professionally throughout your training agreement. 

Professional Qualifications 

The opportunity to complete a prestigious qualification such as the ACA or CA is invaluable and will help set you up for success in your career at Deloitte and beyond. Graduate Programme joiners will complete their qualification through our Early Careers Catalyst audit training pathway, which combines professional learning, practical experience and dedicated support to help build confidence and strong foundations from the outset. BrightStart joiners will follow our established four-year training pathway, designed to support their development throughout the programme.

Our Early Careers Catalyst audit training pathway is designed to accelerate your qualification training, professional development, and support your wellbeing. The programme has dedicated periods of professional qualification learning alongside structured work placements, helping you focus on either study or work at the right time for your development. This approach reduces the need to balance exams and work commitments simultaneously, helping you build knowledge and confidence from the outset.

 Funded Qualification and Paid Study Leave

Deloitte covers the cost of the qualification – including the courses, exams and student membership fees over the entirety of the programme: 3 years for Graduates and 4 years for BrightStarts.  

Deloitte also provides you an allocation of paid study and exam leave, although you will be expected to study in your own time too. 

Quality Tuition  

There's no requirement to have a background in accounting or finance. As long as you meet our academic entry requirements, you're not expected to have any prior knowledge of accounting as it's all taught to you by our Training Provider. We have high pass rates from students with degrees and qualifications from all types of disciplines and backgrounds.  

Extensive Support 

We offer a wide range of support to accomodate your learning style. You'll be mentored by experienced team members who've successfully completed the qualification themselves. Additionally, you'll have access to comprehensive student and academic resources from our Training Provider, including expert tutors, online materials and external support.   

If you're a BrightStart, your apprenticeship will also include dedicated coaching and support.  You’ll be able to reflect on how you’re developing and put your newly acquired knowledge into practice on a day to day basis.  

Whilst the support you receive will be extensive you’ll need to be self-motivated and willing to put the time in to go the extra mile to ensure success in your exams.

We work across all parts of the audit business to assess the risk around IT systems that generate financially relevant information. You’ll learn how IT supports businesses and the key processes involved. Our purpose is to serve the public interest and help give confidence that the financial information going out is correct. As part of your graduate opportunity, you’ll have the option to study towards a MSc qualification in Digital and Business Risk Management. Other relevant qualifications, including the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), are also offered during your career with us.

Professional Qualifications

Deloitte has worked in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University to develop a bespoke MSc in Digital and Business Risk Management. It is the ideal programme to support your development as an IT Specialist. It will set you up for success in your career at Deloitte and beyond. It will be challenging but ultimately rewarding and represents a significant investment in you.

The programme will equip you with a broad understanding of: ​

  • How high-performance firms work;​
  • The impact of current developments in technology on businesses, and;​
  • How firms need to think about, be aware of, and manage risk

You'll be given the opportunity to develop many valuable practical skills such as the ability to collect, analyse, interpret and understand data and information. ​

Funded Qualification and Paid Study Leave

Deloitte covers the cost of the Masters – including the courses and materials over the entirety of the 3 year programme.

Deloitte also provides you an allocation of paid study leave, although you will be expected to study in your own time too.

Quality Tuition

There is no requirement to have a background in Digital and Business Risk Management. As long as you meet our academic entry requirements, you're not expected to have any prior knowledge as it's all taught to you by our Training Provider. We have high pass rates from students with degrees and qualifications from all disciplines and backgrounds.

Extensive Support

Whatever your learning style, you'll receive a range of support. You'll be mentored by experienced people in your team, and you'll also be provided with a Personal Development Tutor (PDT) from the University. They'll meet with you regulary throughout the programme to monitor your progress and offer guidance. 

To be resilient, businesses must be ready to respond to current and future challenges and opportunities. They are increasingly being required to be more transparent with their reporting, to drive trust and confidence in the market, and protect the public interest. That’s where we come in. We provide independent assurance by assessing the risks and underlying processes, so that organisations can make the right decision for them.

We have full-time opportunities available in Assurance on our BrightStart Scheme, which is a Level 7 Apprenticeship suitable for college leavers, as well as on our Graduate Programme. On both programmes you’ll be studying towards the ACA qualification with the ICAEW to become a Chartered Accountant. It is globally recognised and designed to expand your knowledge of a wide range of technical areas. It will help you to confidently perform in the workplace throughout your training agreement.

Professional Qualifications 

The opportunity to complete a prestigious qualification such as the ACA, CA or FRM is invaluable and will help set you up for success in your career at Deloitte and beyond. If you’re working towards the ACA qualification, Graduate Programme joiners will complete their qualification through our Early Careers Catalyst audit training pathway, which combines professional learning, practical experience and dedicated support to help build confidence and strong foundations from the outset. BrightStart joiners will follow our established four-year training pathway, designed to support their development throughout the programme.

Delivery of our Audit work is increasingly dependent on the understanding and challenge of large data sets, and the reporting produced from them. Our Data & Analytics team within Audit empowers our Audit, and Assurance teams, to analyse, understand and test the data and models we receive from the entities we audit. We work across all industries, and we drive usage of our growing library of tools and insights across our audit portfolio to transform our Audit delivery. We use a powerful technology stack, including scripting, visualisation, automation, and data science tools, which we continuously invest in and develop in the UK and globally.

How did you get your job at Deloitte? 

I was born in The Bahamas and grew up in the sunshine. Then in 2017, I moved to Kent to study accountancy, finance, and economics at university. During my time at uni, I completed Deloitte’s Summer Vacation Scheme, working in one of the audit teams. I learnt so much in a short space of time and saw how the teams challenge companies to improve their processes and reporting. It’s how I learnt that audit was what I wanted to do. 
 
What do you do now? 
 
I’m now an Assistant Manager in the Birmingham Audit office. My role involves reviewing the financial reporting processes of banks, to ensure they operate effectively. I enjoy it because the work I’m doing makes a real difference for the companies we audit, as well as the wider public, who know they can trust the businesses they use.

What attracted you to a career in Audit & Assurance at Deloitte?

It has always been my dream to work for one of the Big Four, and Deloitte seemed like a very friendly place to be. A friend of mine recommended working here, and told me they had a really diverse, inclusive culture where you can shape your own career. I studied economics and finance at university, so Audit & Assurance seemed like a natural fit for me. It's much more creative than people think, and I really enjoy the wide range of work.

In what ways does the firm support inclusion and diversity?

I became a mum at the same time as I graduated, which was a challenging experience as most people are more established in their careers before they become parents. Although I'm a young mother compared to others in the office, I have always been supported to manage my home and work duties alongside each other. My team has always encouraged me to ask for help when I need it, which I really appreciate. Deloitte employs people from many different backgrounds and cultures, recognising that we all have something unique to bring.

How did you get your job at Deloitte?

I'm a Senior Associate in Audit & Assurance and I joined Deloitte straight from College. I didn't want to go to university and, during year 12, I had the opportunity to take part in the ASPIRE Accounting work experience week at Deloitte, which is designed to inspire students from different backgrounds. This gave the opportunity to meet future colleagues and begin building relationships. I applied for the BrightStart scheme in my final year of A-Levels and the key to interviews was being yourself. At Deloitte diversity is celebrated and we appreciate each other's differences.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy about life at Deloitte?

I work in the Birmingham office. It's a great location as we're right in the beating heart of the city centre. We have the option to work from home, but I prefer being in the office because I find I learn better and there's more opportunities to socialise after work. There is a big drive at Deloitte to create a healthy work/life balance, which I think is really important. When we roll onto a new audit, we are actively encouraged to discuss our activities outside of work. For me that's playing rugby - I train twice a week!

Why did you choose to join Deloitte?

I joined Deloitte in September 2016 via the Entry Level Apprenticeship scheme as an 18-year-old school leaver, I was one of a cohort of 11 and I'm still in regular contact with most of my year group to this day. The apprenticeship appealed to me because it gave me the opportunity to work for a Big Four firm whilst studying towards a qualification at the same time. It also enabled me to adapt to working life which softened the transition between school andwork.

How have you grown and developed?

Six years since joining Deloitte, I am now an Assistant Manager in the Large and Complex business unit, which sits in the Audit & Assurance service line. I am also a chartered accountant at the age of 24! This was all possible through the BrightStart Apprenticeship scheme, a four-year scheme that combines on the job training with study. I now manage audits and act as the first point of contact for companies. I'm also a coach to the new joiners and I'm responsible for organising social events for the South-West public sector team.

What made you choose an Apprenticeship at Deloitte?

Once I established University wasn't the route I wanted to take, I began researching the various apprenticeships available. I was initially drawn to Deloitte because of its strong reputation as a professional services firm, and after speaking to some current apprentices it was clear that the opportunities at Deloitte would be endless - so it was a very easy decision to apply.

I was also really attracted to the BrightStart scheme because it provided the opportunity to continue with my education (without the university debt), studying towards the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification whilst gaining invaluable on the job experience. It seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Any advice for people applying?

My main advice for applicants would be to just be yourself, be confident and ensure you portray your personality and hard-working attitude. Secondly, make sure you research the firm, the role, and Deloitte's values. That way you can ask relevant questions, demonstrate how you would fulfil the Deloitte values, and really engage with your interviewer. First impressions go a long way.

How did you get your job at Deloitte?

I studied accounting because I was passionate about finance and always knew that was the route I wanted to take. After graduating I was due to travel with friends but decided to join the Deloitte graduate scheme instead. In hindsight, it was the best decision I’ve ever made, because the financial crisis hit just one year later.

What do you do now?

I’ve worked my way up the firm and became Partner in Audit & Assurance in 2020. I now lead the corporate accounting advisory business. We provide specialist technical accounting support to a range of businesses. This helps organisations increase the reliability, accuracy and consistency of their financial reporting, which is important to protect shareholder and other stakeholders and to serve the public interest. We have a very diverse team which allows us to benefit from many unique perspectives and different views. I’m a member of the Deloitte Sikh Network, and I also chair the UK firm’s Ethnicity Council. The Ethnicity Council consists of a group of senior individuals across our firm who represent our ethnic diversity objectives and support the UK Executive in directing and delivering our diversity and inclusion strategy.
