Over the last year many will have noticed a resurgence in Inland Revenue’s compliance activities. This session offers an update directly from Inland Revenue on what this has involved, and their compliance priorities for the coming year. We'll also share Deloitte’s insights based on current market soundings, and a refresher on best practices for tax governance and maintaining audit readiness. The session will close with some Inland Revenue/Deloitte dialogue on topical issues arising from the last year’s experiences.

Employment and fringe benefit tax update [Venue: Grand Hall]
In this session we’ll be giving an overview of some of the most topical employment tax developments and issues we regularly advise on. We’ll be providing practical guidance on how to deal with increasingly complex rules and we’ll provide an update on the direction of FBT reform. The session will end with Steven from Extraordinary explaining how its product can both practically reduce compliance costs for employers and allow employees to access tax savings from using public transport.

Plenary session 4, AI – Emergence and impact of Agentic AI
Deloitte’s AI Institute Director Dr Amanda Williamson, along with Phil Claridge from our tax team, will provide an update on the developments in artificial intelligence. This will focus on the rapid emergence and evolution of agentic AI systems capable of adapting their actions based on changing inputs to perform complex tasks independently. They will discuss what this may mean for businesses and their finance teams, adoption strategies and potential applications for revenue authorities like Inland Revenue.
