Life at Deloitte in Edinburgh

OUR LOCATIONS

As the second largest financial centre in the UK, it’s no surprise that we have many influential financial services clients on our books. From banking to asset management, pensions and insurance, we have it all covered.

Using tech to improve journeys

One of the ways we have made an impact in Edinburgh is by using technology to help UK transport operators improve journeys.

Encouraging people to use public transport is essential to a better future for all. But bus companies face significant challenges.

Operator Stagecoach asked our Digital Foundry & Operations team ‘Can you go catch a bus? We think it’s quite tricky.’ With a team from Stagecoach, we took different journeys across the region to identify quick wins and remove barriers to travel. As well as on-board observations, we interviewed customers and drivers, did diary studies, labs and workshops.

Together, we had over 125 ideas. With the aim of developing those that would deliver value fastest. The resulting ‘How do I catch a bus?’ campaign is now live in several cities across the UK and receiving accolades at the UK Bus Awards. It includes a new printed timetable that is much more customer friendly, clearer signage at stops, and on-board information screens that display positive passenger tweets to drivers to boost morale. Happier drivers deliver better service, which equals happier customers. Win win.

Who knew...?

Working in Edinburgh offers the very best of both worlds: a fantastic set of colleagues working on critical challenges for our clients and arguably the most spectacular city in the world. We are lucky to have the castle on our doorstep and the office’s active social scene always has events helping us to make the most of the delights the city has to offer.

Deloitte Edinburgh offers stunning views of the castle, proximity to the beautiful Princes St Gardens, and a lovely community feel due to the size of the office. What I love most about living and working here is the incredible amount of culture at the doorstep and really friendly people. Plus, you are never too far away from climbing a hill or wandering down a beach!

"I love that Edinburgh is small enough to be able to walk most places, yet it is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city packed with restaurants and events. Our office is located in the heart of the city facing the historic Edinburgh Castle. Here we benefit from sharing workspace with many parts of Deloitte, creating a diverse and exciting work experience."
