Career options

A Deloitte Legal Training Contract allows you to qualify as a solicitor through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). We also believe that rotating between our practice areas will enhance your qualifying experience and help transform you into the best lawyer you can be. With us you’ll get the opportunity to have a varied experience, with a huge number of learning options available. Below are just some of the potential areas that you could find yourself in during your training period at Deloitte.

Corporate Law: We work with a wide range of businesses, from smaller, fast growth firms to large global companies. Projects include advising on the funding of a technology company or buying, selling or reorganising a global multinational firm.

Commercial Law: Working on the intersection between law and technology, we advise clients on working with the latest technologies- from AI to blockchain. Supported by the best legal technology, you will negotiate and deliver a variety of commercial agreements and provide compliance advice to those operating in a dynamic, ever-developing regulatory environment.

Employment Law: Our team advises both UK-based and global clients on the full range of employment law issues. Many employment issues straddle more than one subject area, so you’ll frequently be part of a wide-ranging team.

Pensions: We help clients navigate the legal aspects of different pension schemes, working with sponsoring employers and pension scheme trustees.

Intellectual Property: Our clients are some of the world’s most innovative and brand rich companies. We handle business critical IP issues in rapidly digitalising industries such as financial services, software and services, retail and luxury goods, life sciences and healthcare, media and entertainment. Our commercial IP services span IP strategy/advisory which includes advising how clients can use their IP as a business asset; protecting and commercialising IP; client trade mark and design portfolio management services; licensing and contractual arrangements and managing IP risks.

Disputes: We represent clients – from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar multinationals – in all forms of dispute resolution. This includes litigation in front of the English courts, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution such as expert determination or mediation.  We specialise in commercial, technology and IP disputes.

Tax Litigation, Advisory & Settlement Solutions: As part of a multi-disciplined team comprising qualified lawyers, accredited mediators, HMRC-trained inspectors and qualified tax advisors, we work on some of the most complex and high-profile tax cases in the UK and European Union.

Real Estate: Working with developers, investors, occupiers and public bodies, the team has a wealth of experience in advising on major projects across a wide variety of sectors, delivering both routine and highly complex transactions.

Legal Managed Services: We offer a range of managed services that give our clients an alternative to them handling the work in-house or giving it to traditional law firms.

Legal Entity Management and Governance (LEMG) helps our clients to manage their global legal entities- which includes any individual, company or organisation that has legal rights and obligations. Our team supports our clients across the world to remain compliant, go through transactions, and focus on subsidiary governance, which are all the separate entities that exist under the main firm.

Failure to remain compliant means that our clients might not be able to do business in certain areas, which could seriously affect their organisations and the wider public interest. The LEMG team works with our clients to proactively manage deadlines so that compliance is managed and executed in a timely manner on global projects, whilst leveraging our in-house developed AI and engagement technology tools.

When a business goes through a transaction, they will often create smaller, more focused groups to achieve their goals. There is significant Legal Entity work required to execute this, as well as governance and technology consulting required. Our LEMG team supports our clients at every stage to ensure their business can continue to run smoothly.

APPLICATION OPENING AND CLOSING DATES

We have lots of roles available within different business areas at Deloitte, with different opening and closing dates for applications, depending on the programmes and locations. However, we do close applications early when we get a very high volume of submissions, so we recommend applying as early as possible.
