Your Questions Answered- Claire

Curious about the work we do in our Cardiff Delivery Centre? Director Claire Chesters is here to answer your questions and offer advice on building an exciting career with us.

We think of the Delivery Centre as Deloitte’s ‘engine room’. The teams support our client-facing colleagues to deliver exceptional work, enabling the business to succeed and meet its goals. We’re a vital part of the firm, offering a huge variety of interesting roles where people can develop their skills and build great careers. Our areas of expertise include Quality & Risk Management, where we support our firm to manage risk, Human Resources, IT, and Finance. We also have teams of executive assistants, who enable the success of senior leaders, as well as specialist support teams for different areas, such as Audit & Assurance and Tax.

Our roles start from entry level apprenticeships, open to people who’ve taken their GCSEs, right through to senior level positions. Some require advanced technical skills, while others require no formal professional experience. You could be supporting senior leaders, helping colleagues learn new AI tools, working with our learning and development teams and so much more. Whether you enjoy organisation, exploring new technology, working with people or developing new skills, there’s a role to suit you.

We’re looking for tech-savvy people with energy, positivity, and a professional attitude. While some senior roles require specific skills, many positions offer on-the-job training. If you’re very organised and people-focused, then becoming an executive assistant or working in HR could be perfect. If you’re fascinated by new tech then you might consider exploring our IT roles. Across all teams we’re keen to recruit team players who are curious and keen to learn. Along with the rest of the firm, we live by our Shared Values and promote respect and inclusion.

The delivery centre offers a huge range of possibilities. You’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills through specialist training and gain experience across different teams, helping you to build a career that matters to you. For some this means growing within your team, for others it may mean moving to other parts of the business or transitioning into a client-facing role. For example, some of our entry-level apprenticeship joiners have gone on to convert to the Brightstart apprenticeship scheme, to gain additional qualifications. We have an excellent career coaching scheme and mentorship programme to support your personal and professional growth. You’ll also receive regular support from your people leader for goal setting and development, as well as pastoral care.

In the Delivery Centre, we’re not just looking for people who have sector-specific experience. Transferable skills from your education, personal life, or previous jobs are also key to your success. We’re looking for people from different backgrounds and we value authenticity. In your application, we advise you to be yourself and show us your authentic self. If you have a disability, health condition, and/or are neurodivergent or there are other reasons why you’d benefit from an adjustment, please just ask, we’re committed to removing barriers and making adjustments to help you perform at your best. Finally, research Deloitte and the specific role you're applying for – let us know why you want this job!
