So, do you need to have a technology background to work here?

No, not at all. That’s one of the amazing things about Deloitte; you’re given all of the training, support and on the job experiences you need to equip you with the core skills and knowledge for your role. I’ve been supported in developing technical and leadership skills for example – both courses I’ve chosen myself and ones that I’ve been nominated for based on what’s needed for my personal development.

How did you get your role?

I was in the Army for eight years when I started looking for a change. I still enjoyed Army life, but I wanted a change for my family. Someone told me about the Deloitte Military Transition programme, which supports ex-military people and their spouses into civilian roles at Deloitte. I applied and was offered a role in Risk Advisory, as a Senior Consultant. I integrate the eight geographies in the Risk Advisory business to work together, harmonising processes. I work with some really good partners and people around the world and have been able to build an amazing team from our Engagement Support Services in Cardiff.

What do you enjoy most about working at Deloitte?

I enjoy my role and the learning opportunities, but also the fact that we are a very people focused business. Wellbeing is an important part of life here at Deloitte, and we can work flexibly to support that. For me that means being able to move around my working hours so that I can volunteer at my son’s school and pick him up when I need to. For others it might mean something different. Everyone here respects individual needs, and I have never felt guilty asking for more flexibility when it’s needed. We communicate well to make sure that we can get the job done, while meeting all of our personal needs and responsibilities too.

In CFO Advisory we support our clients to manage all elements of their finance functions, from accounting and financial reporting, to finance transformations and digital controllership. Cyber

Whether you join us as a technical expert or pure business strategist, you’ll be among true innovators. Together, we’re constantly seeking new ways to solve complex problems and deliver more across every aspect of business that cyber touches. As cyber security becomes ever-more pressing for all organisations, this is a fast-growing area of Deloitte’s business.

Deloitte Managed Solutions

Our delivery model combines strategic process re-engineering, operational management and the deployment of innovative technologies. You’ll work with some of the UK’s leading firms on large-scale operation and regulatory challenges. There are opportunities to work with pioneering architecture and technology, such as robotic and cognitive automation, and diversify across multiple sectors.

Extended Enterprise Risk Management

You’ll have the chance to work on projects across diverse industries, including technology, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals and the public sector. You’ll collaborate with senior people and key stakeholders in many different businesses and there will also be the opportunity to travel within the UK and internationally.

Internal Audit and Controls

We support clients in driving good governance and superior business performance. We’re market leaders in partnering with organisations to help them to manage their risks, establish effective controls and provide robust assurance that their controls are operating effectively.

Risk Analytics

One of the fastest growing and highest performing areas of our business, Risk Analytics offers exceptional opportunities for your career. We create multi-disciplinary teams, from data scientists to sportspeople, mathematicians and academics to ex-traders and industry leaders. Together you’ll work with clients of all kinds, even professional sports teams.

Strategic, Regulatory and Operational Risk
