Career options

Our Market leading Advisory Corporate Finance function operates in both public and private markets, and is made up of several teams.

Business Modelling and Analytics: We use financial modelling to help our clients make better decisions and achieve their goals. From day one, you’ll get stuck into real work and start building relationships with senior clients. Due to the nature of this team, we are looking for people with a STEM degree background. Business Valuations: The Business Valuations team uses data analysis, industry and market insight, and commercial judgement to value businesses, before communicating our findings to our clients. If you want the opportunity to work on high-profile projects across Deloitte, both in the UK and globally, this could be the team for you. We are looking for people with STEM or Accounting and Finance degrees for this role.

Government & Infrastructure: We provide specialist finance advice and support for the public and private sector. In this team you’ll be working on projects that have a real impact on the economy, such as the procurement and negotiation of contracts between the public and private sector.

Sport Business Group: Based in Manchester, we work exclusively on sports assignments, to bring our commercial, financial, regulatory, taxation and business knowledge from the sports sector to our clients. We’re looking for people from a wide range of backgrounds who are good communicators and enjoy working collaboratively and creatively.

FIG Recovery & Resolution (R&R): The FIG (Financial Institutions Group) delivers specialist advice to support the stability of banks and capital markets. Within the Recovering & Resolution team, we support our clients through periods of financial stress, including helping them to recover and restructure. You will have the opportunity to work with many different clients, including insurers, banks, fin tech, asset and wealth managers and payment firms.

FIG Mergers & Acquisition (M&A): FIG (Financial Institutions Group), within the M&A team, we advise our clients on their transactions, including buying and selling businesses and assets, debt advisory and transaction structuring.

Organised crime groups, money launderers, terrorists and fraudsters are increasingly using sophisticated international networks and financial systems to move or store funds and assets or commit fraud. Deloitte provides a unique financial crime solution to complement our clients’ existing capabilities, combining investigative skills, economic crime knowledge, and technical expertise with cutting-edge technology, advanced data analytics, and artificial intelligence capabilities, tailored to our clients’ most complex financial crime issues.

For new joiners, we have a structured two-year Associate Development Programme with a technical grounding in financial crime, managing change within an organisation, and technology and data analytics for certain roles. You’ll learn from our teams of experts across the below areas, developing skills and gaining experience from these capabilities before eventually specialising in your area of choice.

Financial Crime Advisory: We are the specialist Financial Crime advisory team, consisting of two key skillset groups:

  • Our Legislative & Regulatory Advisory experts who help clients evaluate and enhance their financial crime risk management framework, providing bespoke subject matter expertise and execution capabilities to provide concrete and actionable advice to our clients; and
  • Our Infrastructure & Operations experts who help translate key financial crime requirements into effective business designs by assessing companies’ business models in relation to regulatory changes and their strategic objectives. Their work also involves reviewing the effectiveness of controls, process improvements, and implementation of organisational design.

Financial Crime Technology: We are technology and data analytics experts who employ investigative analysis, financial crime technology, machine learning techniques, and big data tools, to help clients find pioneering ways to transform their data and develop solutions to investigate, monitor, and prevent issues occurring. Performance Improvement supports Corporates and Private Equity in three main areas: cash, financing and performance improvement. As a newly created part of Financial Advisory, this is an exciting time to join a rapidly growing team. Whether you join our BrightStart Apprenticeship or Graduate Scheme, you will have the opportunity to rotate around our specialist areas to gain an indepth understanding of Performance Improvement and how we can provide the best possible service to our clients.

We cover three main areas:

  • Our Value Creation Services (VCS) team help clients rapidly improve cash, liquidity, working capital and drive enduring growth and profits in growth, underperforming and turnaround situations.
  • Our market leading Debt & Capital Advisory team help clients with all aspects of their financing, providing independent debt and treasury support and execution to make sure borrowers have best in class financial strength and systems.
  • Our Corporate Turnaround team focuses on bringing financial stability to an organisation and provides pragmatic financial advice and support to management teams to lead and guide them through a successful turnaround.

The Transaction Services (TS) team provides due diligence on Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) transactions, which means you’ll be helping clients, who are planning to buy, sell or take-over businesses, to assess the deal. There are three areas you can work in.

Transaction Services: Within the core Transaction Services team, we help clients to assess the deals they are involved in. The services we offer are vital in helping organisations evaluate the accuracy of financial information, identify and quantify potential risks and secure better deal value.

TS Post Merger Integrations (PMI) – We help clients with the execution of a deal when they are planning to buy, sell or take-over businesses. The PMI team advises on transactions on both the buying and selling side. It’s has three teams within the main umbrella, Integrations & Separations (I&S), M&A Operations and M&A Tech (all of which you can also apply to).

M&A Technology – As a part of the wider TS PMI team, M&A Technology provides due diligence on technology and IT functions specifically, as well as cyber. As the world of technology affects our daily lives, this is critical part of the deals process. You can apply through the Technology page.
