The path to agentic transformation

AI agents are only the beginning

A new Deloitte Global report, the path to agentic transformation, explores how organisations can move beyond AI experimentation to unlock value from agentic AI at scale. While the research reflects global trends, many of its findings are highly relevant to New Zealand organisations as they navigate the next phase of AI adoption.

New Zealand businesses are often operating with lean teams and a need to do more with limited resources. In this environment, agentic AI offers significant potential to extend workforce capacity, automate routine processes, and improve decision-making. However, the report highlights that lasting value comes not from deploying AI agents alone, but from redesigning work, processes, and operating models around the outcomes organisations want to achieve.

The findings also reinforce a challenge many New Zealand organisations are already facing: technology adoption is moving faster than organisational readiness. As agentic AI becomes more integrated into day-to-day work, leaders will need to focus on workforce capability, governance, trust, and change management alongside technology implementation. Ultimately, organisations that view agentic AI as a business transformation opportunity, rather than simply another technology investment, are likely to be best positioned to realise its full potential.
