Progress through a year of change 

I am pleased to share with you the 2024 Deloitte Africa Report which describes our journey in achieving our Purpose-led strategic ambitions for our people, clients, society, and the environment in which we operate.  

In making progress in the areas of our strategic focus—for example our re-entry into Ethiopia—we acknowledge that progress is not only achieved through short-term sprints, but also with a long-term view to achieve sustainable growth.

Looking back

Reflecting on the past financial year, we recognise that volatility and change continue to shape our business operating environment. Despite the tough economic environment, we are proud of the milestones we have achieved. This includes 6.2% year-on-year revenue growth.

Our approach to collaboration and creating ecosystems for the long-term commitment to the growth of our continent has resulted in 148% growth in our strategic alliances. This truly demonstrates our approach to transform and innovate solutions for the future.  

In July 2023, we launched our Africa Generative AI practice to bring together an ecosystem of industry experience, skilled AI engineers and strategic alliances to build Generative AI solutions aimed at accelerating the pace of business innovation in Africa.

We remain focused on creating a dynamic culture of inclusion, collaboration, and high performance for our people who are at the heart of our business. I am pleased that, as at 31 May 2024, we have maintained 50% Black representation at a partnership level in South Africa. We have also consistently maintained our Level 1 B-BBEE status, which is central to our transformation strategy. 

Quality remains our number one priority as it is the foundation of our profession and the bedrock of our strategy.

Our investment in societal and environmental impact is core to who we are. To date our people have participated in various volunteering initiatives and we are proud to have impacted 1.6 million lives.  

We believe that the greatest impact to society comes from the services we provide to clients every day. Our firm is built on the intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving of our people—our most valuable asset.

Our strength in offering a multidisciplinary model approach enhances our value proposition. This super-scales our ability to serve as a trusted advisor. 

Looking beyond

I strongly believe that by welcoming change, we not only unlock and embrace innovation, but can also shape a future that goes beyond to achieve the possibilities that Africa brings. 

If we look beyond the challenges, we as the visionaries and the change-makers of this continent can redefine, shape, and lead the way for a more sustainable Africa.
