As an EFA professional, you will work directly with client service engagement teams to provide financial analysis and guidance. You play an active part in managing risk, enforcing financial controls, and exercising professional skepticism throughout every phase of the engagement life cycle. Some of your responsibilities will include applying project management principles to help keep projects on track from the beginning. You will also provide financial services to all members of the project team. You will be budgeting and forecasting, maintaining compliance with our policies, providing financial analysis, and assisting with project billing and receivables. It’s an important job, and we take it seriously.

We look for professionals with a strong foundational knowledge of business finance and project economics. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Management. Strong analytical skills, an aptitude for financial data analysis, and proficiency in business productivity applications, especially advanced spreadsheet tools for financial modeling, are highly valued. A strong understanding of compliance, internal controls, risk management, and professional skepticism is central to success in this role. Prior experience in corporate finance, project management, or operations is a plus but not strictly required for entry-level positions.

Success in this role requires a combination of strong financial acumen, analytical problem solving, business partnership, and the ability to influence leaders across the organization.

In practice, that means going beyond the numbers. EFAs need to understand the story behind the data, anticipate risks before they escalate, and bring a disciplined, skeptical eye to every engagement. Successful EFAs build trust with their teams by delivering accurate, reliable financial analysis while also serving as a check on the process: asking good questions, flagging inconsistencies, and upholding Deloitte's standards of financial integrity.

EFAs need to translate financial information into insights for our senior stakeholders to drive decisions. Effective EFAs can operate fluidly between the detail and the big picture, combining the rigor of a strong financial professional with the instincts of a trusted business advisor.
