Key takeaways
Deloitte Digital and Salesforce have announced the launch of Deloitte’s Agentic Patient Services suite, a new generation of intelligent, autonomous AI agents tailored for Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud. Built by Deloitte Digital on Agentforce, the first-of-its-kind multi-agent ecosystem has the potential to improve and scale operational services in ways not currently seen by the industry. Deloitte Digital is helping life sciences companies navigate their agentic journeys on Life Sciences Cloud, and usher in a new era of patient care.
While there has been steady movement toward improved efficiency in patient services over the past 20 years, 66% of surveyed commercial leaders say significant change is needed in their patient services function, according to recent research by the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Those leaders also said technology and data enablement capabilities present the greatest opportunity for improvement, opening the door for AI agents to help life sciences companies rethink the way they serve patients.
Deloitte Digital’s Agentic Patient Services suite features agents that focus on those areas in need of improvement by streamlining workflows, such as:
Intake and Onboarding: These agents are responsible for enrolling patients into the patient services program with minimal human intervention and aim to reduce manual touchpoints by 50-70% using advanced reasoning. Agents identify and resolve duplicate patient records and autonomously collect missing information from patients and providers using the most efficient outreach channels.
Adherence and Care Management: Agents autonomously monitor patient adherence to recommend personalized engagement plans and education based on risk assessment, patient segmentation, and past engagement history.
Modernizing these tasks could allow the human workforce in the life sciences industry to focus on more meaningful work, like providing elevated emotional support to and facetime with patients.
“Deloitte’s life sciences agents built on Agentforce can help provide an enhanced, data-driven experience for patients and improved business value to clients, including increased efficiency and improved service outcomes. Working with AI-powered agents frees up resources that clients can use to not only create a broader range of offerings and services for patients but can lead to improved conversion rates and better patient outcomes.”
— Pete Lyons, Life Sciences Consulting leader, Deloitte
"Offloading the monotonous administrative work from the patients, caregivers, providers and payers, and handing it off to AI allows people to provide true, empathetic engagement, and put the human back in health care. Deloitte’s Agentic Patient Services will help us deliver experiences that are intelligent, personalized, accurate and, most importantly, designed to improve outcomes.”
— Frank Defesche, GM and SVP of Life Sciences at Salesforce
In this new paradigm of patient services, humans and AI agents will co-exist to enable seamless operations and personalized services. These agents are purpose-built on Agentforce to transform and streamline patient services workflows, bringing advanced automation and reasoning to each step of the patient's journey.
Deloitte Digital’s Patient Intake Agent will be featured as part of Salesforce’s state-of-the-art patient services demo at Dreamforce 2025 and available as a subscription agent on AgentExchange this fall. As a Pioneer Sponsor of Dreamforce 2025, Deloitte Digital is centering our industry leading agentic AI solutions and life sciences innovations to help clients unlock value for their digital futures.
