Bill has more than 14 years of experience specializing in corporate restructuring, turnaround, and crisis management and M&A for both healthy and underperforming companies in a variety of industries and situations, including both in-court and out-of-court engagements.
He works as a financial advisor to management teams, creditors, creditors’ committees, and boards of directors in many aspects of financial, operational, and managerial distress.
Some notable engagements include:
- Interim controller for a genomics company using bankruptcy as a means to recapitalize the balance sheet, where he served as a financial advisor prior to the bankruptcy to assess strategic alternatives, and as interim controller at the outset and through confirmation of the company’s plan of reorganization
- Finance director for a large financial services company where he was responsible for the overall coordination, presentation, and measurement of performance and strategic direction
- Managed a team responsible for the reporting of claims in the largest SIPC liquidation in history
- Prepared an offering memorandum for a $200 million software company, where he assisted management and the board of directors to identify and consider strategic alternatives due to financial distress
- Prepared an offering memorandum for a $100 million multimedia company, where he helped assess the prospects and strategic alternatives related to splitting the company into several pieces
- Developed a four-wall analysis for a 200+ store retailer to assist the board of directors on which stores to close based on financial performance
- Assisted a 50+ store retailer to identify and consider alternative supply chain configurations to cut costs
- Assisted management of a $200 million tool manufacturer to analyze and implement a cost savings plan including plant closures, SKU and inventory reduction, and going private transaction
- Developed a 13-week cash flow and an integrated multi-year model for a $150 million paper company, where he assisted management in analyzing plant closures, working with lenders to restructure debt outside of Chapter 11, and consider other strategic alternatives
- Managed a team of professionals to prepare the SOFAs and Schedules of a $2 billion homebuilder
- Represented a creditor committee in pursuit of a fraudulent transfer argument against a major financial institution, which resulted in a settlement
Prior to his experience at Deloitte CRG, Bill worked in roles including director, partner, and associate for multiple national and global consulting and investment banking firms.
