Dame Ranjna, along with her husband Kanti, established the East Tamaki Healthcare business in 1977. Tamaki Health now operates 50 clinics, serving over 330,000 registered patients, making it the largest private provider of primary healthcare and telehealth services in New Zealand.
In 2014, she founded Gandhi Nivas, a family harm initiative that has achieved remarkable success. Dame Ranjna has been deeply involved in charitable and community organisations. In recognition of her contributions, she received the Queen’s Service Medal in 2009 and was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2017. She serves on numerous advisory boards, including Diversity Works New Zealand as Deputy Chair, ISSO Swaminarayan Temple, the New Zealand Police National Ethnic Forum, the Counties Manukau Police Advisory Board, and is Chair of Indian Ink Theatre Company. Over the years, she has also served on the National Advisory Council on the Employment of Women, the Lotteries Distribution Committee, the Middlemore Foundation, Company of Women, Global Women, and was a Director of the Bank of Baroda. She is a former Chair of the New Zealand Central Indian Association Women’s Group and a past President of the Manukau Indian Association.
