5 ways Deloitte University fosters learning and development

Discover our new and bespoke state-of-the-art regional campus

Deloitte University has recently opened an extensive campus in Paris. This represents our commitment to bring people together from across the region, with the aim to create an exceptional and memorable experience to help them grow and develop. We asked Monica and Pilar, our Swiss Deloitte University Team, how our people in Switzerland benefit from this new facility.

1.      The facilitators

Deloitte University offers an inspiring offsite location where our people learn from facilitators who have extensive experience within their field of expertise. They are a mix of internal Deloitte employees from different member firms, as well as external facilitators from various leading universities and schools. This allows for the industry and technical courses to be delivered by internal Deloitte subject matter experts, who share their knowledge, skills, and experiences to develop the next generation of Deloitte leaders.

Our facilitators play an important role in shaping and inspiring the Deloitte leaders of the future, enabling them to strengthen their leadership and business advisor skills for the benefit of their clients and teams.

2.      The curriculum

The curriculum is related to leadership skills and based on professional insights, and the topics are very industry-driven, created specifically with our people and their needs in mind. While the courses are mostly designed for managers and above, the learning and development needs for junior and senior consultants are also catered for. All the campus courses are held in person. The university offers a small number of digital courses, however these are mainly self-paced, for additional professional development.

3.      Client workshops

Our people can also use the facility for other events, such as client workshops. We recently hosted a workshop for one of our major Swiss clients on campus, bringing together the client and relevant stakeholders from other member firms. This allowed us to deliver a one-of-a-kind session, which highlighted Deloitte’s regional expertise and combined potential − for the benefit of our client.

4.      Networking

Because Deloitte University caters to all regional member firms from the Nordics to the Middle East, it presents a unique opportunity to network. Participants on campus get to meet people from member firms across the EMEA region, and learn from their best practises and working styles. This also creates further opportunities for collaboration in the future, as our people actively grow their internal Deloitte network.

5.      Leisure activities

Deloitte University intentionally plans the curriculum so that participants have enough free time to enjoy additional facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, as well as dedicated classes, such as yoga and meditation. Participants can also rent a bike and explore the wider campus and its surrounding nature. There is a bar area where our people can unwind after classes and watch sporting events on a large screen, as was the case with the FIFA World Cup last summer. And since all participants are staying at a bespoke 4-star hotel on campus, getting to class on time is convenient – no matter how late the karaoke sessions go!
