    Transforming Ohio’s regulatory code using AI

    Situation: Over the years, much of Ohio’s regulatory code had become outdated. This frustrated residents and posed challenges for businesses.

    Solution: With the help of RegExplorer™, an innovative AI solution developed by Deloitte, the state was able to easily comb through the code’s thousands of regulations and millions of words to identify and eliminate those elements that were duplicative, obsolete, or redundant.

    Impact: In just five years, the use of RegExplorer™ cut Ohio’s regulatory code by one-third and recovered some 58,000 hours of state employees’ time. Ohio taxpayers are expected to save $44 million, underscoring the power of AI to help make government more efficient and accountable to those it serves.

    Amplifying issue identification with AI

    Situation: A multinational automotive manufacturer struggled to identify potential safety issues due to high data volumes, siloed operations, and a manual review process.

    Solution: Deloitte developed a Generative AI Categorization engine to process and categorize safety issues for an AI Alerting engine.

    Impact: This engine accurately understood lengthy text with jargon and misspellings and enabled $73 million in cost savings, average time savings of 23 months, and scalable analytics capabilities.

    Situation: An insurance provider needed help developing a comprehensive group insurance product and service catalog, incorporating features from tens of thousands of rows of unstructured case data.

    Solution: Deloitte leveraged Generative AI to identify relevant comments, determine outliers, and structure data sets for deeper analysis.

    Impact: Tens of thousands of records were transformed into concise summaries, all provisions from the current product inventory were assessed, and the most used features across products were easily identified.
