    AI-facilitated literature reviews

We used machine learning and AI tools to examine the scientific literature on the topic of online communities and violence to inform preventive interventions. This strategy allowed 10,000 abstracts to be narrowed down to 309 most applicable articles used to train the model. An AI tool reviewed full texts based on our prompts and research questions. Outputs were uploaded to a generative AI tool to identify cross-cutting thematic findings, informing strategies to prevent violence.

Military health services: Ad hoc surveys

Military Health Evaluation: We studied the functionality and efficiency of health care across military treatment facilities. Our survey research helped military leadership evaluate the effectiveness of their managed care program.

Military Health Survey Research: We surveyed 54,000+ personnel to analyze links between self-reported behavioral health indicators and sociodemographic, behavioral, and military-specific predictors using weighted logistic regression models to assess the impact of deployment.

    Measuring workforce behavioral insights strategies

In cooperation with state and federal agencies, we analyzed the root causes of improper unemployment insurance payments in five states. We designed more than 20 evidence-based behavioral interventions to improve claimant reporting accuracy and developed evaluation plans to test these interventions with both claimant and employer populations. Finally, we collected and analyzed primary and administrative data to assess intervention impact on claimant awareness, comprehension, and filing patterns.

    Evaluating retention strategies

We worked with a federal agency to evaluate retention strategies in diabetes prevention programs, focusing on addressing barriers to engagement in these programs. Using mixed-methods evaluations, we analyzed electronic health record data, conducted interviews, and held focus groups to identify effective retention strategies and provide evidence-based recommendations. Results were shared with the client, community partners, and the field through reports, presentations, toolkits, and more.

    Comprehensive cross-program evaluation

We delivered performance monitoring and outcome evaluations for heart disease and stroke programs, which comprise federally funded state and local health departments. We designed a cross-program evaluation plan using mixed-methods analysis, synthesized recipient reports, and identified opportunities for technical assistance. Data analysis produced program snapshots and profiles, while in-depth interviews informed spotlights on leading practices in prevention and management.
