Our 2025 conference will focus on the tax, social security, legal, immigration and policy aspects of international mobility. Following a record number of elections around the world, we will discuss how employers are responding to the legislative and societal changes.
The conference, for which attendance is complimentary, will run (with the same materials) four times. Please use the registration links below if you wish to attend:
Date: Tuesday 25 February 2025 Time: 09:30-17:00 GMT
As the breakout sessions will be running concurrently in the face to face events you could, if you wished to, register for the virtual event as well in order to attend further sessions.
Breakout sessions include:
Session 1: Opening plenary – Overview of change
This session will outline the changes coming to international mobility. Most notably, the removal of the current UK expat regime (the remittance basis) and the introduction of the new regime from 6 April 2025.
Session 2: The new UK expat regime – policy considerations
We will take a deeper dive into how the removal of the remittance basis and introduction of the new UK expat regime will impact mobility programmes, the considerations for employers and the actions to be taken in advance of 6 April 2025.
Session 3: Employment taxes hot topics and Fair Pay
This session will explore key UK employment taxes and fair pay hot topics which could impact internationally mobile populations from both an employment taxes and employment law perspective, including considerations for employers in respect of the upcoming change to mandatory payrolling of benefits, the EU Pay Transparency Directive and matters announced as part of the 2024 Autumn Budget.
Session 5: Emerging workforce and immigration trends
The new ways of working and changes in immigration rules have yet again shifted the trends when it comes to international remote work and business travel. This session will explore those trends and what the future might hold.
Share incentives continue to be a popular way of remunerating employees and directors but can create compliance challenges for employers, especially in the context of internationally mobile employees. We will discuss some of the hot topics impacting share plans and what they mean for employers.
