EMEA Dbriefs - Responding to Labour Supply Chain Fraud Risks

In recent years we have seen a rise in labour supply chain fraud, in particular relating to VAT and employment taxes frauds, and this is increasingly have an impact for large businesses. There are a number of forms that the fraud could take, for example there have been high profile instances in recent years relating to “mini umbrella companies”, so we will work through how the fraud can arise, what businesses can do to reduce the risk and also hear from the UK tax authority regarding its approach and expectationsof large businesses.

Our VAT and Employment Taxes SMEs in this area will be joined by guest speakers from HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service and Large Business directorate to discuss:

• What “missing trader” fraud, and more specifically labour supply chain fraud, involve;
