Mark Stokes, UK Family Office Leader, Deloitte Private
Mark is a Partner in Deloitte’s UK Private Client Services team and leads the Family Office Services group, having specialised in advising families and their family offices throughout his career. His clients are primarily internationally mobile families, based both in the UK and overseas, with complex affairs and investment structures. Mark advises his clients on a wide range of private client matters including residence and domicile, succession planning, business structures, sale of businesses, real estate investment, investment structures, philanthropy, and the acquisition of lifestyle assets. Mark has a particular focus on Real Estate investment and is a senior member of Deloitte’s Family Office Real Estate team which advises families in respect of their commercial Real Estate investments. Eamonn Kelly, Chief Futurist, Deloitte
Eamonn Kelly has consulted at senior executive levels to many of the world’s leading corporations, key global and national public agencies, and major philanthropic foundations, advising them on world shaping trends and dynamics and helping them evolve robust and “future-proofed” strategies. He has addressed hundreds of conferences, client leadership retreats, industry groups and professional associations. Eamonn’s past leadership roles at Deloitte include Consulting’s chief strategy officer and Consulting’s Strategy & Operations chief marketing officer. Prior to Deloitte, Eamonn was a partner at Monitor Group and a member of its Global executive team. He also served for ten years as CEO of Global Business Network (GBN), pioneering scenario planning consultancy and futures think-tank. Before joining GBN, Eamonn directed strategy at Scottish Enterprise, a renowned economic development organization. He has authored many publications and articles, as well as two books: Powerful Times: Rising to the Challenge of Our Uncertain World (Wharton School Publishing, October 2005); and What’s Next: Exploring the New Terrain for Business (Perseus Publishing, 2002).
Dr Rebecca Gooch, Global Head of Insights, Deloitte Private
Dr. Rebecca Gooch is the Global Head of Insights for Deloitte Private and one of the world's largest producers of ultra-high net worth intelligence (UHNWIs / family offices/family businesses). Prior to joining Deloitte, she served as the Senior Director of Research at Campden Wealth and oversaw large-scale research initiatives, such as The Global Family Office Report, for clients including UBS, BNP Paribas, KKR, Barclays, BNY Mellon, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, RBC, Julius Baer, government bodies, as well as Deloitte. Rebecca’s expertise spans all asset classes (including private equity, real estate, equities, bonds), sustainable / ESG investing, next generation succession, governance and operational excellence. She is regularly quoted in media outlets including the Financial Times, The Economist, Reuters, Bloomberg, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Fortune and Business Insider, and has a PhD, MSc and BA from Oxford University, London School of Economics, and UC Berkeley, California.
Khaled Said, Managing Partner, Capital Generation Partners
Khaled is Managing Partner of Capital Generation Partners (CapGen). He acts as the voice of the client within the firm, setting the standards he believes clients deserve. Having managed his own family money, Khaled is an experienced investor and has particular insight into the problems families face when trying to get the best from the investment management industry. Clients benefit hugely from Khaled’s principled and commercial approach to investing and his commitment to ensuring that client portfolios are managed by people who think like principals not agents. Khaled chairs the Client Portfolio Committee which is tasked with making the final decisions on the content of client portfolios and sits on the Asset Allocation, Investment and Risk Committees. Khaled started his career as a strategy consultant at Bain & Company where he specialised in private equity. He has a degree in Law from Oxford University, a Masters in History from Harvard and an MBA (Dean’s List) from INSEAD.
Philippa Charles, Director, Garfield Weston Foundation
Philippa Charles is Director of the Garfield Weston Foundation, a family-founded grant-making trust donating over £90 million annually across the UK charitable sector. The Foundation’s income is primarily derived from a majority shareholding in Associated British Foods Plc (ABF) which is where Philippa worked previously in a global role.
Prior to ABF, Philippa worked at Barclays Plc and in professional services at Ernst & Young and JM Consulting where she worked with clients across a range of industry sectors across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The common theme across Philippa’s career in both the commercial and voluntary sectors is in enabling individuals and teams to achieve their potential.
Ben Jackson, Senior Vice President – Tax, Lone Star Funds
Ben has spent the last 14 years providing tax advice, most recently in his capacity as a Senior Vice President at Lone Star Funds, advising on all areas of individual taxation for Investment Managers. Alongside this role, Ben leads a single family office for a member of the Lone Star Private Equity Fund. Day-to-day, his role varies from the provision of multijurisdictional advice to map and mitigate tax exposure from a varied range of complex PE Fund structures; undertaking due diligence on direct investments that the family are considering; through to HR management of security personnel and household staff. Prior to this, Ben held various positions at Grant Thornton in the UK.
