Key UK Findings from the 2026 Deloitte Human Capital Trends Report

  • Only a fifth (18%) of UK respondents think organisations manage change, such as new technology implementations, effectively, compared to over a quarter (27%) globally.
  • 76% of UK workers say their wellbeing has suffered due to being tired from too many changes at work—this is higher than the global average of 68%.
  • 57% of UK workers report increased workloads resulting from organisational change (60% globally).
  • Just 11% of UK respondents feel their organisation meets their continuous learning needs (8% globally).

AI's role in cultural transformation

Deloitte’s research also found that AI is driving significant cultural transformation:

  • 81% of UK leaders, managers, and workers are concerned that colleagues are using AI to appear more productive.
  • 44% of UK workers have used AI to automate part of their job, often without their employer’s knowledge (41% globally).
  • 69% of UK respondents believe their organisation’s culture such as its values, beliefs and practices needs to change significantly because of AI.
  • 34% of UK respondents say their organisation rarely evaluates the impact of AI on people (42% globally).

Kate Sweeney, partner in human capital at Deloitte UK, said: “It is challenging for organisations to make the widespread changes needed for AI. They need to do more than just test it. They must build skills, change mindsets, and redesign jobs. Redesigning work isn't optional; it's imperative to get a return on AI investment.

“To get the most out of AI, companies need to build trust in their AI tools through transparency, practical training, and opportunities to gain real experience with AI tools.”
