Deloitte Legal appoints new healthcare M&A partner

Deloitte Legal has appointed Nicola Brookes as a partner in its M&A and Corporate team, based in Manchester.

Brookes is an experienced M&A lawyer with a top-tier track record in both private practice and in-house. Previous roles have included Addleshaw Goddard and Eversheds Sutherland, latterly as a partner. She also has five years in-house experience as General Counsel at private equity backed global healthcare business, Genesis Cancer Care UK, providing support across all areas of the business, including acting as company secretary and strategic adviser to the senior leadership team.

The new role will focus on leading Deloitte Legal’s healthcare industry focus and will draw on Brookes’ deep transactional capabilities, and experience managing in-house legal teams in global healthcare.

Brookes has a strong reputation and network within the North West, having been named on the Northern Power Women Future List and supported many high-profile North West businesses whilst in private practice. Brookes will be joining over 1,400 people based out of Deloitte’s Manchester office at 100 Embankment – a new state-of-the-art sustainable office led by practice senior partner, Jo Ahmed.

Richard Punt, managing partner for Deloitte Legal in the UK, said: “Our distinctive strategy to deliver business solutions to the chief legal officer continues to resonate strongly with clients. Nicola’s appointment reflects our sustained ambition and commitment to invest in developing our capabilities in response. Enabling our clients to achieve better business results from M&A is a key priority for us. On behalf of everyone in Deloitte Legal, I wish Nicola a very warm welcome.”

Chris Hardman, partner and head of Corporate Services at Deloitte Legal, added: “Nicola’s blend of senior private practice and in-house experience complements our M&A strategy, delivering business outcomes at the intersection of legal and operational challenges on complex, multilateral transactions. Nicola’s strategic and collaborative mindset, twinned with a proven record of originating and converting work, complements our business perfectly and she will be a fantastic addition to the team.”
