Deloitte Top 200 awards winners announced for 2022

The winners of the 2022 Deloitte Top 200 Awards were announced tonight at an awards ceremony showcasing the best of New Zealand business and their commercial strength in continued challenging economic times.

Celebrating the 33rd year of the awards, Deloitte Chief Executive Mike Horne reflected that “the awards continue to recognise the depth and range of New Zealand’s business community and their continued agility and ability to turn challenges into opportunities.”

Judging panel convener, New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) Head of Business Content, Fran O’Sullivan, said the organisations and individuals which received the top honours for 2022 were extremely impressive and represented the very best of New Zealand business and innovation.

“This year’s winners exhibited true grit and strong business prowess through their ability to adapt to the ever-changing economic landscape, whilst also ensuring leadership was embedded across an organisation empowering their teams to succeed.”

For 2022 the Top 200 judges selected Vulcan Steel as Company of the Year, and Spark’s Jolie Hodson Chief Executive of the Year. Winegrowing pioneers Jim and Rose Delegat received the Visionary Leader of the Year award.

Judge Jonathan Mason said there was such a high calibre of finalists that it made selecting this year’s winner extremely difficult, especially as the past 12 months have continued to be a challenging time for all companies featured on the Top 200.

“We’ve seen some amazing success stories across New Zealand businesses, with value continuing to grow for shareholders, new ways of working being embraced by employees, and innovative and impactful commitments to communities, sustainability and the environment.”

The judges also presented a special award to Sir Rob McLeod to recognise his distinguished business career and immeasurable contribution to public policy, particularly around tax reform and his influential role in Te Tiriti negotiations.

Mr Horne concluded, “Deloitte is inspired by the exceptional talent and leadership of all this year’s winners and finalists. These organisations and individuals are leading the way when it comes to delivering stakeholder value as well incorporating values and practices focused on sustainability and climate, diversity and inclusion, business culture and employee wellbeing. They’ve also found ways to reconnect with a changed world, truly embracing this year’s theme of ‘the world is ours’.”

The Top 200 awards would not be possible without our exclusive media sponsor NZ Herald Premium and the support of our category sponsors 2degrees, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Barfoot & Thompson, BusinessNZ, Forsyth Barr, Hobson Leavy, Meredith Connell, ServiceNow, Tax Traders and The Aotearoa Circle.
