About the Deloitte and Chapman Tripp Election Survey

Conducted by BusinessNZ, the Deloitte and Chapman Tripp Election Survey comprised two questionnaires: a survey of BusinessNZ members and a survey of the main political parties contesting the 2026 General Election. The member survey received 423 responses, including 279 fully completed questionnaires, providing insight into business sentiment across New Zealand.

The member respondent sample has strong representation from large businesses, with more than one-quarter of respondents employing 500 or more people. This provides a valuable enterprise perspective alongside insights from smaller businesses and self-employed operators.

The political party survey invited parties to outline their policies across five business priorities: the economic environment, sustainable investment, infrastructure, skills and human capital, and the employment environment.
