The New Agenda for Auckland

In 2010, Auckland’s seven territorial authorities were amalgamated into one to address difficulties in strategic planning and development, and to enhance decision-making. Fifteen years on from becoming a super city, Auckland is entering a new chapter.

In May 2025, the landmark Auckland @ 15 event brought leaders, including former Prime Ministers, from across the country together to consider the lessons learned over the past 15 years, and priorities for the next 15. Now, momentum for a new, unified agenda is building.

The release of the 2025 State of the City benchmarking report has highlighted the need for action on long-standing and systemic issues to improve Auckland’s performance. And now is the time for action, with an opportunity beckoning to align public, private and civic priorities around a shared vision for Auckland’s economic growth over the next decade.
