STEM Observatory | 2nd Edition

Rethink STE(A)M education

The presentation of the second edition of the STEM Observatory, Rethink STE(A)M Education, was held on July 14, 2022. The study, conducted by the Deloitte Foundation and DCM Public Policy Program, aims to identify concrete solutions to support students' choices toward educational paths in STEM fields.

The event was held in a hybrid format, in attendance at the Deloitte Greenhouse in Milan and remotely via live streaming.

High level representatives of Italian institutions, academia, research, media and national business took part to the discussion on the cultural and socio-economic barriers that influence and hinder students' choices, as well as the necessity of skills hybridization as an educational tool to face the global, environmental and social challenges of our times.

Guido Borsani

Deloitte -
Guido Borsani is the Chairman of the Italian Deloitte Foundation, appointed in July 2021. Prior to this role, he was a member of the Board of the Italian Deloitte Foundation and has been Government and Public Services Industry Leader for Italy, Greece and Malta since 2013. Throughout his career, Guido has supported clients in the healthcare, public sector and publicly regulated sectors in major development and transformation programmes. He strongly believes in Deloitte’s Purpose: make an impact that matters - for our people, society and clients. Guido holds a degree in economics from Bocconi University. He joined Deloitte in 2009, after an initial experience in management consulting and then in financial advisory within a public sector company.

Alessandro De Luca

Deloitte -
Alessandro is leading the Deloitte Italy’s Public Policy Program. Since 2015, he is Director at the Brussels-based Deloitte EU Policy Centre, aimed at facilitating dialogue among Deloitte professionals, policy makers and business leaders, developing perspectives, analysis and insights on public interest themes affecting socio-economic growth and development in Italy and in Europe. Previously, he worked as auditor manager at Deloitte since 2014, where he developed extensive experience in coordinating cross-border assignments of multinational Groups. Also, he gained consolidated experience in coordinating other assurance and non-assurance engagement, such as: compliance projects (US-SOX and Italian equivalent legislation), IPOs, other special assignments (unbundling, due diligence), clients’ assistance with the internal control systems. He provides training for audit managers as facilitator within Deloitte's internal learning programs. Alessandro studied International Economics at Växjö University in Sweden and obtained a Master in Business Administration from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'.
