Public Policy

Deloitte Central Mediterranean

The Public Policy Program aims to serve the public interest through the development of projects and initiatives that contribute to generate a positive social and environmental impact for the communities in which Deloitte operates.

The Public Policy Program develops its activities through the so-called “BRIDGE” approach, which focuses on 6 key policy topics to create socio-economic progress and development in the Central Mediterranean area (Italy, Greece and Malta). By identifying common policy topics in the three geographies, this approach aims to drive alignment and cooperation between institutional decision-makers, business community’s representatives and Deloitte professionals on issues that impact the communities in which the Deloitte network operates.

The BRIDGE approach

The BRIDGE approach

Leading the change in the business accountability ecosystem by improving corporate responsibility and governance, while at the same time encouraging businesses to take into account long-term value creation and wide societal impacts.

Rethink Education policy topic represents the first theme developed by the Public Policy Program with the ambition to forge a resilient generation of young learners capable of facing emerging global issues. It is crucial to provide individuals with the skills and competences needed through new and adaptive approaches and to create the conditions that allow everyone to access education and apprenticeships at all levels.

This policy topic is in line with main Deloitte strategic program, such us: WorldClass Program whose aim is to empower and prepare 100 million people by 2030 for the new jobs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and All in that tries to remove gender and socio-economic barriers and structural inequalities embedded in nowadays societies.

Deloitte's commitment to rethink the education paradigm and shape new generations of learners, through new paths of education and the hybridization of competences, results in the creation of the STEM Observatory 2022 edition.

Furthermore, this issue represents also a crucial topic in the “new European Commission 2019-2024 agenda”, and in the “Political Guidelines for the next European Commission” of President Ursula von der Leyen.

“My priority will be to get Europe up to speed on digital skills for both young people and adults by updating the Digital Education Action Plan. We need to rethink education by using the potential the internet provides to make learning material available to all, for example by the increased use of massive open online courses”.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
