Marco Vulpiani

Life Sciences Sector Leader

Marco Vulpiani holds a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.

Marco has about 25 years of professional experience in business strategy and corporate finance. 

Before joining Deloitte, he began his professional activity in Fiat Avio S.p.A., as an aerospace designer. He then continued his experience in ENI Group, where he worked for about six years in the Strategic Planning department of the company Agip Petroli S.p.A.. As a Strategic Development Project Manager, in ENI Marco was responsible for the valuation of several strategic projects and for M&A projects as well. In addition, Marco took part in the IPO process of ENI Group, as a member of the workgroup responsible during every steps of the privatization process.

In 1999 he joined Deloitte, as a manager in the Corporate Finance area. As a Director and then Partner, he has been responsible for numerous advisory projects, including Business Valuation, Impairment Test Purchase Price Allocation (“PPA”), Fairness Opinions, Business Planning, Valuation for Reporting, PPP, Financial Modeling, M&A transactions, among others. 

Marco is Deputy Leader for Deloitte Italy of the industry “Life Science & Health Care” with primary clients such as Pfizer, Sanofi, MSD, Merck Serono, Sigma Tau, etc.

As a senior Equity Partner, he is the head of the “Valuation and Business Modelling Services” service line in Italy and is a member of the Deloitte Global Valuation Executive Committee.

He is a member of the Management Board of the Italian valuation standard setter ”Organismo Italiano di Valutazione” (OIV). In this role he participated in the OIV working group that contributed to drafting the Italian Valuation Principles ("PIV") and to the guidelines for the Impairmet Test of Goodwill in contexts of financial and real crisis: “Impairment Test dell’avviamento in contesti di crisi finanziaria e reale – Linee Guida”. He is also a member of the Institute of Engineers of Rome and Chartered Accountant in Rome.

Marco is Adjunct Professor of “Advanced Corporate Finance” in the Master of Science course in Economics at Luiss Guido Carli University and he has been Adjunct Professor at faculty of Economics of University of L’Aquila since 2003. He is also Adjunct Professor of Luiss Business School in the MBA, in the Executive Master in Finance and Markets and in the Master in Corporate Finance.

He is author of several publications in primary Journals (among which the book “Special Cases of Business Valuation – McGraw-Hill 2014) and he has been a speaker in many national and international conferences on issues of business valuation.
