When I accepted my internship with Deloitte, I was excited but also a little unsure of what to expect. As a BESS student at Trinity College Dublin from Limerick, I was delighted to be based in the Limerick office, but I knew the next 10 weeks would be a completely different experience from university. Looking back now, I can honestly say it exceeded every expectation I had.
Although I learned a huge amount professionally, some of my favourite memories came from the social side of the internship.
Whether it was chatting over coffee, having lunch together, or catching up after workshops in Dublin, there were so many opportunities to build friendships. Deloitte creates an environment where people enjoy working together, and that made coming into the office every day something I looked forward to. Those conversations, shared experiences, and laughs made the 10 weeks pass incredibly quickly.
This internship has given me far more than technical knowledge. It has improved my confidence, strengthened my communication skills, and showed me what working in a professional services firm is really like.
Most importantly, it confirmed that the people around you can completely shape your experience. The support, encouragement, and friendships I found throughout the internship made every challenge feel manageable and every success even more rewarding.
Ten weeks went by much faster than I expected, but the experience, friendships, and lessons I gained will stay with me long after the internship ended. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Deloitte team in Limerick, and I look forward to carrying everything I've learned into the next stage of my career.
