“Being part of Deloitte Legal has been the most rewarding part of my journey as an attorney.”
As partner and Head of Legal for Mexico, César González Calderón’s day begins early with exercise and a team huddle to set the agenda. His role is a blend of leadership and client service, coordinating the legal practice across Mexico and ensuring that clients receive solutions tailored to their needs.
During his career (which spans over 25 years), he has experienced some major shifts in the legal profession. The introduction of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act marked a turning point, reshaping the way legal services are delivered within major professional services firms and demanding strict compliance with independence rules. Today, César sees another transformation underway: the rise of legal tech and AI. He believes that the lawyers who embrace these tools will become more effective in delivering innovative solutions for their clients.
César recognizes that AI will become a defining feature of legal practice. “There will be two types of attorneys—the ones who use AI, and the ones who don’t,” he says. Those who harness technology will be able to offer more agile, creative, and valuable services, keeping pace with the evolving demands of clients and the market.
At Deloitte Legal, César finds an environment that prioritizes quality and collaboration across jurisdictions. The global network and openness of colleagues enable him to deliver consistent, high-impact results locally and internationally. For César, client satisfaction is the ultimate reward.
Outside the office, César’s passions center on family and nature. He cherishes time with his wife and two children. And he enjoys recharging and experiencing nature during weekend rounds of golf!
