Deloitte Africa and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have committed to equipping one million Africans with cloud computing and essential tech skills by 2030.

Deloitte Africa and AWS launched a Digital Skills Program focused on building cloud computing and AI capabilities for young people across Africa. While the initiative spans the continent, pilot phases in South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya have already trained over 1,400 youth.

By combining AWS’s world class cloud platform and technical training with Deloitte’s focus on employability skills and mentorship, the program is developing a strong pipeline of future ready talent and expanding access to opportunities in the digital economy. 

Through this collaboration, participants gain both technical certifications and critical professional skills, equipping them to successfully transition into tech enabled careers and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s growing digital economy.

Through the Yes/Cities platform, Deloitte works with a global and local network of collaborators to unlock urban innovation and opportunity. By bringing together leading companies, governments, investors, civil society, and innovators, the initiative creates pathways to turn ideas into scalable solutions that accelerate urban revitalisation, improve quality of life, and reimagine how local economies and communities grow and thrive.

As cities become both the epicenter of sustainability challenges and the source of many solutions, innovation must be locally driven. In 2023, Deloitte collaborated with the World Economic Forum, Salesforce, Citi, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and more than 20 organizations to launch the Yes San Francisco (Yes/SF) Urban Sustainability Challenge.

The Challenge invited entrepreneurs to develop scalable, sustainable solutions to revitalize downtown San Francisco. With support from the wider innovation ecosystem—providing access to relationships, capital, and infrastructure—innovators were able to accelerate and scale their solutions locally. As of June 2026, Yes/SF has supported more than 55 innovators, mobilised over 60 organisations, and contributed more than $100 million in economic activity, positioning the city as a leading example of sustainable urban innovation.

The model has since evolved into broader Yes/Cities. In January 2025, the World Economic Forum announced its ambition to activate the model in 50 cities over the next five years, helping create pathways for cities worldwide to build more resilient economies and more sustainable livelihoods.
