Common Questions with Aswers About Deloitte's Trainee Programmes.
My Trainee period has taught me a tremendous amount so far! The advice from more experienced colleagues provides valuable learning every day. As my Trainee period progresses, I've been given increasingly challenging tasks, and there's a clear focus on my development.
What Trainee Positions Does Deloitte Offer?
We recruit Trainees across all our service areas: audit, risk management, corporate transactions, consulting, tax & legal services, and internal services. The Trainee period typically lasts 3-6 months, and most of our Trainees continue with us after their programme ends. We are seeking Trainees for all our offices in Finland—Helsinki, Tampere, and Turku.
What Will I Do as a Trainee?
As a Trainee, you are a vital part of the expert team and will have the opportunity to develop your skills into becoming a professional in your field. You will be supported by your coach, who will discuss your goals and aspirations for your Trainee period. Trainees often work alongside more experienced colleagues on client projects, gaining insights into our clients' businesses. Your tasks might include background research for client projects, data collection and analysis, or supporting proposal work.
For instance, in audit services, Trainees perform concrete audit tasks, while in tax services, Trainees assist clients with tax returns. Alongside work, Trainees are welcome to participate in all Deloitte activities, such as hobby clubs and various staff events, including our annual Trainee dinner.
What is the Selection Process Like?
We announce the opening of Trainee applications on our website and social media channels. Applications are submitted through our online recruitment system. We review all applications and invite selected candidates for interviews. All applicants are informed about the progress after the application period ends. Typically, our Trainee recruitment process includes one or two rounds of interviews. Some Trainee positions involve a group case interview, assessing interaction style, teamwork skills, and subject matter expertise. Others may involve individual interviews.
Who Can Apply to be a Deloitte Trainee?
Our Trainee positions are primarily aimed at those in the final stages of their studies or recent graduates. The educational backgrounds of Trainees vary, and each job posting specifies the fields of study that are particularly suitable. We often hope that Trainees can continue with us after their Trainee period, so being in the advanced stages of studies is advantageous. Many Trainees already have some work experience in their field, such as through summer jobs. In addition to a suitable educational background and work experience, we particularly value the applicant's motivation for the Trainee position and Deloitte. Good communication skills and a positive attitude are also crucial in all our roles. You can find detailed application tips here.
Can I Take Exams or Other Courses During My Trainee Period?
Trainees typically work full-time with us, so it's advisable to keep plans for studies during the Trainee period modest. However, we strive to support the completion of Trainees' studies by being as flexible as possible, for instance, with exams or other classes requiring attendance.
What Other Opportunities Does Deloitte Offer for Those Starting Their Careers?
In addition to Trainee positions, we recruit both early-career and more experienced professionals for permanent roles across our service areas. You can find current open positions on our website.
The best word to describe my colleagues is support network. During the Trainee period, colleagues have become a group of friends, and we always help each other whenever needed.
