2025 Gen Z and Millennial Survey

Now in its 14th year, Deloitte’s global survey of 23,000+ Gen Zs and millennials finds these generations focused on growth and learning as they pursue money, meaning, and well-being.

Learning over leadership

Danish Gen Zs and millennials are reshaping the workforce with a strong emphasis on learning and development. They prioritise growth opportunities over traditional career goals, seeking guidance and mentorship from their managers. Additionally, the widespread use of Generative AI (GenAI) among these younger generations is enhancing productivity and improving work/life balance.

"Missing development and career opportunities are the absolute main reason why young people change jobs, and compared to international figures, it is striking how little both salary and balance matter to them. The figures indicate a thirst for development opportunities.”

- Nikolaj Malchow-Møller, People & Purpose Leader, Deloitte Denmark

Danish Gen Zs and millennials are focused on learning

Gen Zs are more focused on work/life balance than climbing the corporate ladder—only 9% say their primary career goal is to reach a leadership position. However, they don’t lack ambition. When asked the strongest reasons for choosing to work for their current employer, learning and development is in the top three. But many Gen Zs and millennials feel their managers are missing the mark on key areas of their development. They want managers to provide guidance, inspiration, and mentorship, not just oversight of daily tasks.

GenAI boosts productivity and well-being for Danish youth

GenAI is widely used by younger generations, with 53% of Danish Gen Zs and 44% of Danish millennials incorporating it into their daily work. Despite this, only 16% of Gen Zs and 19% of millennials have completed formal GenAI training. The benefits are clear: 71% of millennials and 62% of Gen Zs say GenAI has improved their work, and 67% of millennials and 65% of Gen Zs report it has enhanced their work/life balance by freeing up time.
