Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Deloitte.
I grew up in the French Alps, so I love outdoor activities; I especially love skiing, sailing, and hiking. I’m a Senior Manager on the Technology, Strategy, and Transformation team at Deloitte, and I’ve been with the firm for eight years now. I originally studied International and European Law in France, Austria, and Switzerland, and after my master's degree I decided to switch gears and pursue a career in consulting.
My journey into consulting started when I came across a programme called “Women in Tech Bootcamp” on Instagram. This programme by Deloitte focuses on recruiting women with project management experience who are interested in a career in tech. After attending the bootcamp I joined Deloitte as a trainee, and later I accepted a permanent role.
How has your role evolved since you joined?
When I first joined Deloitte, I spent the initial years building my skills and knowledge in technology. I started out in IT sourcing due to my legal background but after two years I wanted to explore other areas, so I branched out into IT operating models and IT strategy. For the past two years I've been working as the Chief of Staff for the CIO at a luxury company.
In parallel, the types of teams I manage has evolved as well. I now manage larger, cross-functional and international teams on my projects.
What types of projects and clients have you worked with? How have they helped hone your skills in consulting?
I mainly collaborate with tech leaders in the consumer goods sector, helping them shape, set up, and deliver their digital and IT transformations. I've been involved in big transformation programmes that focus on enhancing strategy, solving operational challenges, and ensuring these companies build future-ready capabilities.
Working on these projects has really boosted my consulting skills, thanks to the diverse topics and multidisciplinary teams I've been a part of. It's also given me a comprehensive understanding of how IT departments operate and interact with the rest of the organisation in large companies.
I've had the opportunity to really shape my career at Deloitte. I started out in IT sourcing, but the firm encouraged me to explore other areas and build new expertise.
How are you supported to shape and own your career in consulting?
I've had the opportunity to really shape my career at Deloitte. I started out in IT sourcing, but the firm encouraged me to explore other areas and build new expertise. Additionally, Deloitte gave me the freedom to develop new services that I believe will help our firm stay ahead of the curve. They’ve also invested in my personal growth by sponsoring several certifications and specialised trainings, such as ITILv4, Prince2, PMP, and an industry learning week at Deloitte University.
What has been your most insightful project to date? What did you learn from this experience?
I think my most insightful project is the one I'm currently working on, where I’m the Chief of Staff for a Comex member. After developing a five-year strategy with the CIO, we've been focusing on transforming his digital and IT organisations. We've worked on improving the resilience of their IT organisation and making sure it's seen as a strategic partner by the business.
This experience has shown me how tech leaders manage teams of over 200 people while pushing forward their own agenda. I've also learned how the various departments of a retail company interact and collaborate with each other and how to tailor communication to different business functions, as each department has their own goals and objectives. Finding common ground is crucial to getting things done.
What qualities or skills do you think are important to have, to succeed in consulting?
I think it’s essential to be eager to learn. The world changes quickly and the technologies I advise my clients on are evolving rapidly, such as AI and how AI is becoming part of every company's operations.
Being human-centric is also crucial. Even if you have specific expertise, it's important to listen to your clients, adapt to their environment, and build strong, trusting relationships to be successful.
Organisation is also key. It's a demanding job where you need to juggle lots of different tasks, so being organised helps you stay focused and move forward more efficiently.
How would you describe the work environment you operate it?
It’s a very dynamic job. Besides your client work, there are plenty of internal initiatives you can join if you're interested, so it can get quite busy. You often need to adapt to your client’s work patterns too—they might want you onsite, fully remote, or a mix of both so be prepared to travel.
