1. Please tell us a bit about yourself and your career path at Deloitte.
Hi! I’m Grit Zwingenberger, a Business Analyst in the Human Capital Consulting team in Switzerland. After graduating from the University of Zurich with a major in Psychology, I started at Deloitte as an intern in August. After my internship was over, I was delighted to continue on as a full-time team member in January. Since then, I’ve been selected as the delegate from Switzerland to represent Deloitte North South Europe (NSE) at the One Young World summit in Manchester later this year. I can’t wait to meet so many inspirational and influential young leaders and make an impact together. If you want to know more about OYW, check out this awesome testimonial from last year's delegate here.
2. How do you believe Deloitte supports women and helps you make an impact?
I know that there are many initiatives, programmes and mentorships going on at Deloitte to recruit and support women in their careers and in breaking the glass ceiling which I think is incredible! Especially on the Human Capital Consulting team, where we have a great gender balance, I’m super lucky to be working with amazing, inspirational women every day, who have served as mentors and role models to me in the past few months. Having successful, powerful and empathetic women in leadership roles is what makes me feel supported the most. Although we in Deloitte, as well as everywhere in Switzerland, still have a very long way to go in terms of gender equality, I’m very hopeful to see how it’s been developing.
“Having successful, powerful and empathetic women in leadership roles is what makes me feel supported the most."
3. Tell us about any learning and development opportunities you’ve experienced at Deloitte.
We have a great array of learning opportunities, from bootcamps and independent virtual trainings to interactive workshops. I’m currently in the process of a change management up-skilling journey in my team and looking forward to my first consulting bootcamp!
4. What do you think Deloitte does well to support diversity and inclusion?
I remember when I was applying for my internship in Deloitte last year and was surprised to see that my recruiter’s e-mail signature included her pronouns. Even though that was such a small detail, I immediately knew Deloitte would be an inclusive place to work. I do think there is still a way to go towards diversity, but I’m happy to see Deloitte lead the way. When the entire office building was lit up in rainbow colors for Pride and also for months during the Swiss vote on marriage equality, I honestly felt really proud to be part of this firm.
5. What’s advice you’d give to the women of the future/women who are looking to join Deloitte?
Don’t let anything stop you and find a coach or mentor to help guide you! We need to look to each other for role models and for support because that’s how we achieve the most. I’m endlessly grateful to the women on my team who help me feel proud and powerful despite many challenges still awaiting us.
