As artificial intelligence (AI) transforms industries worldwide, Deloitte is committed to ensuring that non-profit organizations are not left behind. Through our firm’s pro-bono program, Deloitte is helping organizations like Alloprof and the CNIB integrate AI into their operations to drive positive social change.
Since 1996, Alloprof has delivered academic support for Quebec teachers, students and their parents, providing free digital resources and professional services. With the rapid adoption of AI tools like ChatGPT, Alloprof and Deloitte recognized both the urgency and the opportunity to guide students in using AI responsibly.
“We wanted to build something that really differentiated from what exists in the marketplace,” says Manager of Technology & Transformation Philippe Brock at Deloitte.
Deloitte designed AI-powered tools that go beyond simply providing answers. “We want to use AI to help students learn as opposed to just feeding them the answer directly,” Philippe explains.
By embedding pedagogical strategies into the development of their future AI products, Alloprof ensures that students will be empowered by the learning process —mirroring how a teacher would guide them through a lesson, rather than just giving the answer.
Senior AI Product Manager Paul Ghanime at Alloprof, highlights the importance of this approach: “We’re trying to push students to think for themselves, so they don’t lose their critical thinking abilities.”
The AI tools in development are designed to simplify complex information and guide students toward finding information, while aligning with Quebec’s curriculum. While the new products are still being tested, early feedback from teachers has been promising, with many noting that AI can give them more time to focus and strengthen the teacher-student relationship.
Paul appreciates Deloitte’s help in bringing in their expertise to ensure Alloprof has the latest AI technology.
“There were a lot of changes in the past year in GenAI. It felt like every other month there was some big breakthrough,” said Paul. “Deloitte helped keep us up to speed but also focused on the right technologies.”
As Deloitte continues to help Alloprof reimagine educational support with AI, the firm is also working alongside other non-profit organizations to unlock the benefits of this technology for different communities. One such collaboration is with CNIB, where the focus is on accessibility and operational efficiency.
Deloitte’s relationship with CNIB began many years ago and has since evolved into the development of AI tools.
“Technology gaps for underserved communities have always been challenging to overcome, and AI can either widen that gap, or help to close it and bring equity to more people,” says Senior Manager of Technology & Transformation Paul Jurkovic at Deloitte. “I believe Deloitte has a responsibility, as a leader in GenAI, to support CNIB adapt to a world forever changed by AI.”
CNIB is now piloting Deloitte’s Productive AI tool to help make business operations efficient.
“Allowing organizations like ours to utilize the technology that Deloitte has created takes away the randomness and openness of AI and gives us structure in how we operate,” says Senior Vice-President of Digital and Transformation Frank Lombardo at CNIB.
Through these impactful collaborations, Deloitte demonstrates its commitment to helping non-profit organizations incorporate AI in ways that are ethical, responsible, and tailored to their unique missions. By fostering innovation and supporting digital transformation, Deloitte is enabling these organizations to better serve their communities and create lasting social impact.
