Michelle Hilscher, PhD

Senior Manager - Strategy, Risk & Transactions

Michelle specializes in applying behavioral science to solve business challenges in the financial services sector and has worked with a global portfolio of clients. This includes financial institutions, regulators, and industry associations in Canada. Michelle's work ranges from helping organizations transform their credit and debt management practices, to enhancing how they combat frauds and scams, and enabling financial well-being amongst their customer base through behavior change programs, products, and services. 

Prior to joining Deloitte, Michelle was the Vice President at BEworks, where she oversaw the financial services portfolio, managed a team of scientists, and served on the executive management team. Her earlier experience included advising institutional investors on how to improve governance and group decision-making amongst pension administrators as an Associate at Cortex Applied Research. 

Michelle has been an invited expert and speaker at events coordinated by the Canadian Anti-Scam Coalition, Payments Canada, Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), Financial Planning Foundation of Canada (FP Canada), and Securities and Investment Management Association (SIMA). 

Michelle holds a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Toronto where she also served as a course instructor and lab manager overseeing a diverse research portfolio. Michelle is the author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
