Reaching cruising altitude

For many Canadians, air travel is both an opportunity and a necessity. In 2020, the Canadian aerospace industry contributed over $22 billion in GDP and close to 207,000 jobs to the economy. Climate action is also a necessity. As Canada continues to work toward net-zero by 2050, we must continue to tackle emissions from hard-to-decarbonize industries, including aviation. If we do nothing, aviation’s contribution to global emissions could potentially triple by 2050.

In Reaching Cruising Altitude, we outline a path forward that requires immediate action from all aviation industry players in Canada, including corporations, government, airlines, and fuel producers, and explore what has been achieved in the last year and what should be tackled next.
