The Deloitte Global 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey

Now in its 11th year, the survey finds Gen Zs and millennials are striving for balance and advocating for change.

Now in its 13th year, Deloitte’s 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey surveyed nearly 23,000 respondents across 44 countries, including 800 respondents in Australia, to examine the societal experiences of these generations across the categories of work, the economy, mental health, climate change, and more.

This year’s survey found there are green shoots of optimism for the year ahead with respondents cautiously optimistic about the economy and their personal finances.

The survey also found that work/life balance and flexibility remain paramount while purpose is also having a big influence on levels of workplace satisfaction. But as work-related factors continue to contribute to stress levels, employers must stay focused on creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

Australian respondents have not lost sight of the challenge of climate change with environmental sustainability continuing to drive career decisions and consumer behaviours.

This year’s survey also took a deep-dive into Millennial and Gen Z sentiment around Generative AI (Gen AI), finding those who frequently use Gen AI are more likely to trust the technology and believe it will improve the way they work.

With Millennials eclipsing Baby Boomers as the country’s largest generational group, these findings are more important than ever.
