Meet Alan Eckstein, one of our Melbourne Health Partners, sitting in our Consulting business. Alan specialises in Health Technology and solutions across his health clients.
How did your passion for healthcare start and what was the motivation for pursuing a career in healthcare?
By chance I was asked to apply my experience in leading large scale technology implementation projects to help establish a state-wide electronic health record program. I was immediately attracted to the human side of working in the health sector and have never looked back. After 20 years I am still enjoying what I do.
What motivated you to pursue this specialisation over other fields within the healthcare industry?
I have always been fascinated by opportunities to improve outcomes through leveraging technology. Ongoing innovation presents new opportunities and challenges every day.
What skills and capability do you bring to transform health?
As a Chartered Accountant by trade, I have a strong understanding of processes or workflows and the value of data. My experience in technology implementation grounds my thinking in how to apply technology in the real world to improve work practices and leverage the enormous amount of data generated in this sector.
What can you tell us about your role at Deloitte and the work you're involved in?
As the lead partner for Health Technology and Solutions at Deloitte, my role is focused on understanding our client’s needs, developing our market strategy and then establishing the capabilities within the firm - necessary to meet our client's needs. As a delivery partner, my role is to help clients solve problems through leveraging technology and the other amazing skills, experience, and capabilities we have within our firm.
What impact are you looking to have on the sector and what is your vision for the future of healthcare?
I would like to leave behind two things. Firstly, clients that feel that working with Deloitte has had a positive impact on their organisation and the clients they serve. Secondly, a motivated and high quality team of practitioners within Deloitte that continue to have a significant impact in the market we serve.
