SA AI policy framework

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) swiftly transforms industries worldwide, the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies in South Africa has taken decisive steps to harness this potential. Following the release of its Artificial Intelligence Planning discussion document of October 2023, the department introduced a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Policy Framework in August 2024.
 
The framework's primary mission is to cultivate a dynamic AI ecosystem, achieved through concerted efforts in research and development, talent growth, and infrastructure enhancement. It emphasises a human-centred approach to AI, asserting that AI applications should support and enhance human decision-making rather than undermine it.
