COVID-19 Regulations

Disaster Management Act

With just days into the national lock down, and with potentially over 2 weeks to go, it is critical that organisations review and understand the new COVID-19 regulations issued in terms of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 on 18 March and an update and amendment to these published on 25 March 2020.

These regulations will remain in force throughout and after the lockdown until such time as the President confirms that South Africa is no longer in a state of emergency.

The President in his state of the nation address on Monday, 23 March 2020 made it clear that the regulations will be strictly enforced and there will be zero-tolerance for non-compliance. Regulatory compliance functions within organisations should assess the impact on their operations and support the design of appropriate control mechanisms to ensure compliance.
