AI skills are top of mind for 45% of tax leaders surveyed

As we look toward the future of tax, one thing is clear: Technology is reshaping our industry in profound ways. Deloitte’s 2025 Tax Transformation Trends survey report highlights a crucial insight—45% of tax leaders surveyed now see AI skills as the top priority for the next two years. This isn’t just a trend; it’s a fundamental shift in how we approach tax operations.

Three key insights from our survey:

  • 45% of tax leaders prioritize AI skills
  • 57% describe AI skills as “essential” today
  • 82% expect AI skills to be essential in 2–3 years

What caught my attention most from our survey is the transformative potential of AI. It’s not just about automating routine tasks; it’s about leveraging AI to unearth deeper strategic insights and enhance decision-making processes. It’s a world where AI handles the complexities of data entry, allowing us to focus on more strategic, high-value activities. This is the future we are stepping into.

However, the journey toward integrating AI is a careful one. Leaders are prioritizing applications that help them ensure both accuracy and security, which is a prudent approach. The potential for AI to streamline operations and reduce manual errors is immense, but it should be implemented thoughtfully.

I’m genuinely excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. AI is not just a tool; it’s a strategic partner that can redefine the role of Tax in business.

I invite you to join me in exploring these insights further.
