Trends for women in venture capital

For female investors and founders, challenges still remain

Venture capital (VC) funding for women-led businesses remains elusive. Part of the problem may be a lack of women at the head of the table in VC firms. The 2022 VC Human Capital Survey by Deloitte, Venture Forward and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), shows progress for women throughout the VC industry and a growing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts. But the dream of women leading the way in VC may be a generation away.

Continuing—but slow—progress for female founders and women in VC

In PitchBook’s latest publication, All In: Female Founders in the US VC Ecosystem, Heather Gates, Audit & Assurance Private Growth Leader, offers insights drawn from the latest VC Human Capital Survey and thoughts on the current and desired future state of female founders, including:

• Underrepresentation in leadership roles
• Discriminatory barriers to funding
• Advancements offer hope to future generations
