Sustainable Urban Innovation: Deloitte's Collaboration in launching the Yes SF, Urban Sustainability Challenge

In 2023, Deloitte collaborated with the World Economic Forum, Salesforce, Citi, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and more than 20 organizations to launch the Yes SF, Urban Sustainability Challenge, which aimed to revitalize downtown San Francisco and set a blueprint for the World Economic Forum’s Yes|Cities initiative aimed at reimagining and transforming urban life in cities across the globe. The challenge called upon entrepreneurs to propose scalable, sustainable solutions aimed at revitalizing downtown San Francisco.

As a founding collaborator, Deloitte committed substantial resources to help foster the Yes SF ecosystem and pledged a $1 million donation to assist top innovators in developing and enhancing their solutions to sustainably revitalize San Francisco. The Top Innovators selected for their pioneering ideas proposed to Yes SF have benefitted from the support of Yes SF’s ecosystem and UpLink’s global innovation network to enhance and scale their initiatives.

This challenge not only reflects Deloitte’s dedication to inspiring collective action, supporting innovative ideas, and convening a variety of stakeholders to help catalyze long-term change in San Francisco, but it also provides a blueprint that can be replicated and scaled to other cities around the globe. Leveraging its longstanding alliances and various nonprofit relationships, Deloitte has significantly strengthened community bonds, positioning itself as a pivotal force for collective action.
