Rear Admiral John W. Mauger, USCG (retired), has over three decades of experience in maritime operations. A marine safety engineer, he ensured the safety and security of commercial shipping through the development and enforcement of US and international regulations for ship design, construction, and operation.
Mauger inspected ships under construction and repair in the United States, European, Asian, and Australian shipyards, which has provided him with a unique perspective on the shipbuilding industry. Immediately prior to his retirement, he served as the Coast Guard’s First District commander, where he led 12,000 men and women conducting Coast Guard operations across New England, from New York City to the Canadian Maritimes.
