Deloitte collaborated with a state labor agency to combat pandemic-related unemployment fraud. We used advanced analytics and machine learning to flag more than 800,000 suspicious claims and implement 30+ fraud holds. This helped protect billions in taxpayer dollars and strengthened the state’s program integrity.

Fraud detection in Medicaid is vital to protect public funds and health care integrity. We have provided support to a state’s Medicaid FWA detection efforts and have developed a capitation sweeps algorithm that flags false claims, averaging $1.5 million per month. In FY 2025, our team helped the state recover $38.5 million within the first 10 months of the contract.

Deloitte implemented Pallium™ Artificial Intelligence (AI) for fraud analytics and reporting to detect and prevent fraud across a state’s housing programs. This effort has delivered a tenfold ROI and has helped prevent approximately 8% to 10% of fraud, waste, and abuse among the cases identified and reviewed through risk prioritization.

Deloitte’s Identity Integrity Solution has helped a state agency detect and prevent fraud in online benefit systems by monitoring user activity for account takeover and bots. So far, this effort has disabled 240,000 risky accounts with a less than 1% error rate, protecting sensitive data and program integrity.
