Deloitte has set a worldwide science-based target to reach net-zero by 2040. This signifies our dedication to helping reduce our carbon footprint and minimising the impact of our operations on the environment.
In 2024, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated our worldwide target to reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040. Deloitte expects to publish a global net-zero transition plan in 2026, outlining how we will continue to transform our operations, practices, and culture in support of our net-zero target.
Achieving net-zero by 2040 requires collaboration across our firm and with our suppliers and clients. It entails a transformation to reduce the environmental impact of our business. This includes how we serve our clients, the technology we use to do our work, and the offices where we work.
Net-zero by 2040 target
Through collaboration across our firm and supply chain and the provision of pro-bono support and finance to a diverse portfolio of high-impact climate solutions and projects, we are accelerating the transition to a sustainable future. Together, we are creating lasting value for our clients, communities and the planet.

As the global economy progresses toward a low carbon future, Deloitte is leading the way by driving meaningful progress within its own operations. Deloitte is amplifying this impact by offering industry leading sustainability services and collaborating with suppliers, nonprofits and other affiliated organizations. Transitioning to net-zero and toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy is central to long-term resilience and value creation. Deloitte’s net-zero ambition will require sustained investment—into how the Deloitte network reduces travel emissions, decarbonizes its technology infrastructure, buildings and fleet, engages suppliers, and enables culture and behaviour change.
It’s not just about offsetting our own emissions. We can accelerate society’s transformation by finding, funding, and scaling innovative solutions. We are using our skills, capabilities and investments to tackle climate change, protect and restore nature, and drive societal impact through best practice ‘Beyond Value Chain Mitigation’ (BVCM) collaborations aligned to the latest science and emerging standards.
In FY25, we allocated £5.6m, through a combination of value in kind and direct investment, to a portfolio of seven transformational projects, including collaborating with WWT on wetlands restoration and Soil Association on regenerative food systems. We also invested £2.2m in carbon credits in alignment with SBTi guidance to purchase credits representative of at least 50% of FY25 ongoing emissions.
We’re also helping The Earthshot Prize find innovative entrepreneurs, connecting them to our networks and sharing our expertise to scale the solutions that can contribute to a better future.
Deloitte continues to advance our commitments to the three core initiatives of the Climate Group, which support the advancement of renewable electricity (RE100), electric vehicle (EV) adoption (EV100), and energy efficiency/productivity (EP100). We earned an A- rating from CDP for our FY2024 response to its climate change questionnaire. In September 2024, Deloitte’s net-zero target received third-party validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
We recognise that business leadership and collective action is critical to addressing the climate crisis. Deloitte is uniquely positioned to help organisations as they redefine their strategies, embed sustainability into their operations, consider tax implications, navigate disclosure and regulatory requirements, and help accelerate their transformation to drive long-term value creation.
