EMEA Dbriefs - Tax impact of EU Deforestation-Free Regulation and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (On demand)

Increasingly the European Commission is leveraging EU trading power and the EU customs border to enforce its sustainability agenda. Tax and Trade teams will have a key role to play in managing compliance with two recent regulations: the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). How may this affect your organisation? We’ll consider:

• EUDR - The EUDR prohibits the import, export or trading of specified commodities and products on the EU market unless it can be demonstrated they are deforestation-free and produced in accordance with local laws. With the recent delay proposed by the European Commission, how can businesses make use of the additional time to prepare?   
• CBAM - The EU’s CBAM puts a carbon price on the embedded emissions of certain carbon intensive goods that are imported into the EU. We’ll take stock of the position one year in to the transitional period, review developments on the introduction of a CBAM in other countries, and consider what next for businesses.
