Building confidence

I was shocked when I received the job offer as I was convinced that I wouldn’t be good enough for the company. I had major imposter syndrome but I soon realised that everyone gets this. It took me a while to understand that I was chosen for a reason, and everyone is there to support you.

I am the sole designer on a product that is being used by high profile clients, which I find really exciting. I work in an engineering team and my goal is to make my designs matter. I always design with inclusivity in mind and keep the end user at the forefront of everything I do.

Leadership to me is encouraging good collaboration. This means working with each member of the team and helping them to solve issues and come up with more innovative ways of working and manufacturing products. Instead of micro-managing, a good leader supports and values all team members.

Since joining Deloitte I have really flourished as an individual and improved both my personal and professional skills. My team encourages me to be the best version of myself I can be, and to continue to develop my skills. I am able to do this through all the tasks I am given as well as the courses available. If I’d told myself last year that I would have achieved this much within six months, I never would have believed it.

Living and working within the heart of London is something I’ve never experienced before in my life. I really enjoy working in the office here as it offers the perfect work/life balance. I enjoy the fact that going for drinks after work is so easy to arrange and I feel that it helps the team to bond. As well as the location itself, we have a state-of-the-art building with a world food market, relaxation rooms and very impressive views across the city.
