As we help businesses to unlock their digital potential, we’re also investing in ours.
In a boost for UK growth, we’re creating 750 roles over the next three years at four dedicated technology centres in Belfast, Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle.
Opened in June, the centres are a vote of confidence in our regions and their local talent and will mean we can offer our clients even more specialist skills and greater delivery capabilities.
“I’m hugely excited about the investment we’re making,” says Rob Cullen, managing partner for Technology & Transformation at Deloitte UK. “Our centres will be a magnet for the best technology talent, offering rewarding careers at the forefront of innovation.”
We unveiled our plans at the May opening of our new Belfast headquarters in the city’s iconic Ewart building. There to mark the occasion were Northern Ireland’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill, Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly and Deloitte senior leaders from the UK and Ireland.
Once almost derelict, the former linen warehouse is a reminder of the city’s industrial powerhouse past. Now, blending history with innovation, it serves as our technology HQ and has brought together our 1,300 Northern Ireland colleagues in the same office for the first time.
The site houses the largest of our technology centres and will welcome 500 new recruits over the next three years. With such a significant tech presence in the region, we’ll also be able to better serve the island of Ireland.
“We have some amazing talent and technology skills in Belfast, making it an ideal location for one of Deloitte’s new flagship technology centres,” explains Marie Doyle, office senior partner at Deloitte in Belfast.
And Richard Houston, senior partner and CEO of Deloitte UK, adds: “The firm’s investment in Belfast underscores our confidence in the long-term prospects of Northern Ireland and our dedication to its continued success.”
Deloitte is a major employer and key contributor to the local economy. The firm shares the executive’s vision for economic growth and regeneration, creating good jobs and opportunities for the people who live here.

Our dedicated technology centres represent a significant milestone in how we better serve our clients, delivering solutions that are fit for the future.
Rob Cullen, managing partner for Technology & Transformation
This investment in people and skills will take the total number of digital experts in our technology centres from 750 to 1,500 over the next three years, ensuring we meet increasing client demands for UK-based delivery.
Our plans will also accelerate our own ambition to establish the UK’s largest onshore technology capability.
Across our centres, our technologists develop, build and run brilliant solutions that address the evolving needs of today’s organisations. From designing apps and cloud engineering to embedding AI into software, devices or systems, they’re helping clients to transform their businesses.
Learning from last year’s successful pilot in the North East, we’ll create opportunities for both tech experts and those who are new to the profession, including graduates in other subjects, people looking to switch careers and individuals returning to work after a break.
Through training programmes like our first-of-its-kind Assured Skills Academy in Northern Ireland and our award-winning BrightStart apprenticeship scheme, which gives school leavers the opportunity to work on real client projects while continuing their studies, we’ll equip people with the knowledge they need to work alongside our world-class teams.
The additional roles will sit in the Technology & Transformation part of our consultative business. For managing partner Rob Cullen, it’s the start of an important chapter.
“This new venture reinforces our focus on being the undisputed leader in business transformation and technology, our commitment to digital skills and regional growth, as well as our support to the UK’s wider ambition to be a global technology leader,” he says.
“This is more than just an expansion – it's a strategic move to meet the increasing demand for cutting-edge UK business solutions and technology expertise.”
Now, as we grow our business, we’re looking forward to welcoming the talented individuals who will help us develop the future of innovation here in the UK. Since the launch, we have welcomed our second cohort in Newcastle and have started the recruitment of cohorts three and four in Belfast – all three oversubscribed.
“We're not just creating centres, we're building careers,” Rob continues. “We're investing in our people with multi-year technical training programmes, with opportunities for both experienced professionals and those looking to start a new career in tech.
“I'm incredibly excited about the impact these centres will have on our clients, our people and the UK technology landscape.”
